Joachim Loth

Joachim Loth (born November 29, 1947 ) was a football player in the GDR . For 1. FC Union Berlin , he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association . He is a four-time junior national player.

Athletic career

Loth began his career as a soccer player in the youth department of the East Berlin company sports association (BSG) Berolina Stralau . At the age of 18, he joined the police force and was given the opportunity to continue playing football in the second-rate GDR league with the Dynamo Hohenschönhausen police sports club. In the same year - 1965 - Loth was included in the squad of the junior national team. He played four junior internationals between June and November 1965, in which he was used as a striker.

With the establishment of the Berlin FC Dynamo (BFC) at the beginning of 1966, the SG Dynamo Hohenschönhausen was integrated into the BFC as the 2nd team. This won the Berlin district championship with Loth in 1967/68 and then rose to the GDR league. At the end of the 1968/69 season, Loth was delegated to the BFC and transferred to the Frankfurt district division Dynamo Frankfurt / Oder . After he had once again made promotion to the GDR league with this team in 1971, the soccer section was moved to Fürstenwalde and started there as SG Dynamo .

At the end of May 1972 Loth was dismissed from the police force, and with that, his membership in SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde ended. He returned to Berlin and joined the first division club 1. FC Union Berlin. On the penultimate match day of the 1971/72 league season, Loth played his first league game at the local derby Union Berlin - BFC Dynamo (0-0), in which he was substituted on in the 79th minute. He had to wait until matchday 12 of the 1972/73 season for his next league operations. During this season he played a total of 13 first division games, of which he only played seven full time. He was mainly used in midfield and scored three goals. At the end of the season, Union was relegated to the GDR league and did not return to the league during Loth's union time. In the two GDR league seasons, Loth was able to significantly increase his betting rate and played 44 of the 60 point games played (rate: 73 percent). He also played seven of the eight cup games with the first team. At the age of 27, Loth ended his engagement at 1. FC Union in the summer of 1975, for which he had played 64 competitive games and scored 16 goals within three years.

In the 1975/76 season Loth played for the East German league promoted Motor Eberswalde , from 1976 to 1981 he was active for the district league team Sparta Berlin . In 1977 he won the East Berlin District Cup with Sparta. After he had finished his career as a soccer player, Loth worked as a coach for various lower-class Berlin soccer teams. His last coaching position for the time being ended in 2009 with the state class representative SG Michendorf.
