Joachim Piegsa

Joachim Piegsa MSF (born September 30, 1930 in Vosswalde , Upper Silesia ; † February 20, 2015 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German religious priest and moral theologian .

Life

Joachim Piegsa joined the Order of Missionaries of the Holy Family and was ordained a priest in 1955 . From 1956 to 1959 he studied moral theology at the Catholic University of Lublin . In 1962 he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD ; then he headed the seminary of his order in Bablin .

In 1968 he went to Mainz, where he completed his habilitation in moral theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University . In 1977 he received the call to the Chair of Moral Theology at the University of Augsburg . In 1998 he retired , but continued to work at the university and also taught at the Gustav Siewerth Academy in Weilheim-Bierbronnen .

Together with Hermann Lais, he was a member of the Theological Commission, which was initiated as part of the episcopal inquiry process for the beatification of Johann Evangelist Wagner .
