Joachim Schimpf (born July 3, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player. From 1962 to 1964 he played 38 games and scored six goals for SC Chemie Halle in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . In 1962 he won the GDR soccer cup with SC Chemie.

Athletic career

In 1961 the game operations in GDR football were changed from the calendar year rhythm to the summer-spring rhythm. In addition, 39 games were played in the league from March 1961 to June 1962. In the last third of the season, SC Chemie Halle had to complain about the failure of several attacking players, so that at the beginning of 1962 the 20-year-old striker Joachim Schimpf was brought in from the third-class company sports association (BSG) Lok Aschersleben . From matchday 30 to the end of the season, Schimpf was used in seven league games as a right striker, but could not score a goal. In contrast, he participated with a hit in the 3-1 win over SC Dynamo Berlin in the final of the GDR soccer cup competition in 1961/62. Already in his second league season in 1962/63, Schimpf played with 22 appearances in 26 point games as a right winger in the core team of SC Chemie. With his five championship goals, he was also one of the most accurate shooters in his team. He was accepted into the squad of the GDR youth national team and played an international match with her in October 1962. In the 1963/64 season, Schimpf fell out of the player base again, because he was only used in nine point games. At the end of the season, SC Chemie had been relegated to the GDR league . Even in the second division, Schimpf did not succeed in 1964/65 to play back into the regular team. With seven league games and one goal, he had only a small share in the immediate resurgence of Halle.

For the 1965/66 season, Schimpf was still reported for the SC Chemie's league team, but was no longer used. In early 1966, Schimpf moved to the 2nd team of 1. FC Magdeburg in the third-class district league. In 1967 and 1969 he became district champion with her and in 1968 also helped her to rise to the GDR league.

For the 1969/70 season, Schimpf joined the GDR league club Lok Stendal . After starting difficulties in the first two seasons, he was part of the team in 1971/72 and 1972/73 with 41 appearances in 44 point games. The 1973/74 season was Schimpf's last season in higher-class football, from which he retired in the summer of 1974 at the age of 32.
