Joachim Ullrich (football player)

Joachim Ullrich (* 1976 in Hanau ) is a former German football player .

career

Ullrich played in the youth field for the Hanau Hawks , from 1995 to 1998 he was a quarterback and wide receiver in the service of Hanau's men's team in the top German division, the GFL . Later he was used exclusively as a quarterback. In 1998, he and Hanau won the European club competition Federations Cup. In 1999 he was in the Frankfurt Galaxy squad , but was not used. But he was part of the squad that won the World Bowl that year . In the subsequent GFL season of the same year he wore the colors of the Aschaffenburg Stallions . After a playing year with the Rüsselsheim Razorbacks (2000), Ullrich joined the Marburg Mercenaries , with whom he made the leap into the GFL as a second division champion in 2002. In 2005 he won the European Cup EFAF Cup with the team , in 2006 he was German runner-up with Marburg. In July 2007 he was in the Eurobowl , but had to bow to Vienna with his team. In September 2012, Ullrich, who had already worked as a high school teacher in the subjects of sport, politics and economics during his playing days, retired from competitive sport after twelve seasons in Marburg.

National team

With the German national team, Ullrich won silver at the European Championships in 2000 and gold in 2001. He took part in the World Cup in 2003 and won the bronze medal there with the national team. At the EM 2005 there was Ullrich with the Germans again in second place, in the same year he won with the team in the final of the World Games . At the 2007 World Cup he won bronze with Germany. In 2010 Ullrich was European champion for a second time.

Trainer

Ullrich worked as a trainer in the youth field (Frankfurt, Hanau, Hessian youth selection), in Marburg he also worked in the coaching staff. At  summer training events organized by NFL Europe , he was also part of the support staff, taking care of the quarterback position and working at training camps for the Hessian Football Association. In 2015 he was responsible for looking after the neighborhood backs on the staff of the Polish national team.
