Joachim Walter (* 29. September 1960 in Rottweil ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and since 2003 District Administrator of the Tübingen District . Since July 23, 2013, he has also been President of the Baden-Württemberg District Association .

education and profession

After studying law from 1981 to 1987 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , Walter became a lawyer in 1991 . From 1991 to 1994 he was head of the building and environmental department and at times also of the legal and regulatory office in the Zollernalbkreis district office . In 1994 he became a consultant for building, immigration and pollution control law in the Freiburg regional council and in 1996 first state official and department head for vocational schools, waste management, construction and the environment, law and order, water management and veterinary services in the Zollernalb district.

Political career

In June 2003 he was elected by the district council in the second ballot with 33 out of 59 votes to the district administrator of the Tübingen district and was able to prevail against the first district official of the Tübingen district Hans-Erich Messner. On June 1, 2011, Walter was confirmed in this office by the district council with 46 out of 54 votes in the first ballot.

Walter has been President of the Baden-Württemberg District Assembly and Chairman of the Social Committee since July 23, 2013. In the German District Association he is a member of the executive committee and deputy chairman of the social committee.

Other offices

In his function as district administrator, Walter is chairman of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Tübingen and chairman of the supervisory board of Kreisbaugesellschaft Tübingen mbH.
