Joan Beretta

Joan Beretta ( 1937 - 1965 ) was an Australian middle-distance and cross-country runner .

In 1962 she finished fifth over 880 yards at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth .

In 1961 and 1964 she was Australian cross-country champion and in 1962 English champion in mile running . She set her personal best over 800 m of 2: 09.4 minutes in 1963. She stayed over a mile on December 8, 1962 in Perth , when Marise Chamberlain set a world best time of 4: 41.4 minutes, with 4: 45.5 minutes half a second above the old record of Diane Leather .
