Joan Verdú Fernández (born May 5, 1983 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish football player .

Career

Verdú comes from the youth of FC Barcelona . He found his way into professional football through the second team of the Catalans . He made his debut in the first team in a Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk in 2005. However, the offensive player moved to Deportivo La Coruña for the following season , where he was able to develop into a regular player.

His first goal for Depor scored Verdú on 11 February 2007 at the 2: 0 away win over the Villarreal . On June 4, 2009, the Catalan club Espanyol Barcelona announced that Verdú had been signed for the next four years. After his contract there he moved to Betis Sevilla in 2013 . After another stint at the Abu Dhabi club Baniyas SC in the 2014–2015 season, he was under contract with the Italian club Fiorentina at the beginning of the 2015–16 season . In February 2016 he moved back to Spain to join the Levant UD .
