Joanny Thévenoud

Joanny Thévenoud (born March 14, 1878 in Serrières-en-Chautagne , † September 16, 1949 in Ouagadougou , Upper Volta , today Burkina Faso ) was a French Roman Catholic bishop , missionary and apostolic vicar in Ouagadougou .

After joining the Roman Catholic Order of the White Fathers ( Pères Blancs ), he was ordained a priest on June 28, 1903. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the French colony of Upper Volta in West Africa , where he stayed until his death. From July 8, 1921 until his death he was Vicar Apostolic of Ouagadougou and Titular Bishop of Sitifis . Archbishop Dominique Castellan donated Thévenoud his episcopal ordination on May 1, 1922.

He founded a Catechists, the seminary of Pabré and was involved in the founding of the Seminary of Koumi involved. On his initiative, the cathedral of Ouagadougou was built
