Joaquín Díaz (2015)

Joaquín Díaz (born April 30, 1964 in Darmstadt ) is a German-Spanish graduate civil engineer and university professor for building informatics and sustainable building at the Technical University of Central Hesse . In terms of professional policy, he is involved as a board member of the Hessen Chamber of Engineers, the supervisory board of the Hessen Engineering Academy, member of the StudiumPlus board of trustees , member of the accreditation council , the supervisory board of Planen Bauen 4.0 and chairman of the Federal Association of Building Software in Berlin.

Life

Joaquín Díaz has been professor for building informatics and sustainable building at the Technical University of Central Hesse since 1998. His main focus is on teaching and research in construction and applied computer science. He was also vice dean from 2006 to 2009 and dean of the construction department from 2009 to 2015. From 1985–1991 he studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he received his doctorate in 1997 on the subject of “Object-oriented modeling of geotechnical systems” in connection with computer science and civil engineering.

Joaquín Díaz was u. a. Lecturer for construction informatics at the Technical University of Darmstadt and is a consulting engineer for construction and applied informatics . He is head of the "Integral Building" center at the technology transfer company of the universities in Central Hesse: TransMIT GmbH. He also worked through collaborations on the master’s course "European Construction Engineering" with universities in Spain, Portugal, Italy, England, France and Denmark. Furthermore, he was a long-standing member of the accreditation commission of the accreditation agency for courses in engineering, computer science, natural sciences ( ASIIN ) and mathematics, which he helped to found. He is deputy chairman of the Energy Efficiency Group of the Hessen Chamber of Engineers, on the supervisory board of the Hessen Engineering Academy, on the executive board of the Hessian Engineers Foundation. V. and Chairman of the Board of Bundesverband Bausoftware e. V. Berlin and supports the Federal Ministry of Economics in the field of innovations in "building research and technology" as well as the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building and Home Affairs in "digitization in the building industry".

In October 2018 Diaz became a member of the supervisory board of Planen Bauen 4.0 , of which he is a founding partner. Planen Bauen 4.0 is an initiative of all relevant associations and chamber organizations in the planning, building and operating value chain in Germany, which was founded to introduce digital business processes in the construction industry.

In January 2019 he became a member of the Accreditation Council at the suggestion of the University Rectors' Conference.

Others

Díaz played a total of four times for the SV Griesheim team in the German Federal Chess League in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons .

honors and awards

In November 2016 he received the Konrad Zuse Medal for services to computer science in construction for “model-based project communication and further development of the GAEB standard”.
