Joblinge (own spelling: JOBLINGE ) is a non-profit joint-stock company aimed at disadvantaged young people between the ages of 15 and 25 who are looking for a connection to the training or job market. As part of a six-month program, they are prepared for in- company dual training or employment in the primary labor market .

Since it was founded in 2007 by the Boston Consulting Group and the Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation , more than 25 locations have been opened across Germany. Joblinge is one of the first social franchise representatives in Germany. The umbrella organization is based in Munich .

Goal and concept

The initiative aims to make a contribution against youth unemployment by integrating disadvantaged young people between the ages of 15 and 25 into the labor market. During a six-month program, the participants' professional and social skills are to be developed and strengthened so that they can move independently on the job market after the placement. Entry into the labor market is to be leveled with the help of a support network from business, the state and civil society.

Practice from day 1 , 1: 1 support of the participants by volunteer mentors and employees, bundled social commitment of business, state and civil society and the control and support of the locations by the nationwide umbrella organization sees the non-profit initiative as its central characteristics.

Program structure

The six-month program is divided into four phases:

  1. In the admission phase, the participants should demonstrate their motivation and commitment in the context of a non-profit project work.
  2. The orientation phase serves as a career orientation and career field finding as well as the imparting of key competences through entrepreneurial group projects, training courses and a cultural and sports program. In addition, the participants receive support in restructuring their living conditions (e.g. debts, housing situation, health and other personal issues).
  3. In the practical phase , the focus is on the qualification internship, in which the skills learned are applied in practice and initial work experience is gained.
  4. In the trial phase , every job candidate can put his skills to the test with a potential employer and develop his or her own training or job.

Even after the end of the program and acceptance into a regular apprenticeship or employment relationship, Joblinge remain in contact with the young people and the company. So Joblinge wants to ensure the goal of sustainable placement.

History and locations

Together with experts and volunteer partners, The Boston Consulting Group and the Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation developed the Joblinge concept in 2007. The aim was to find a new solution to enable disadvantaged young people to permanently participate in working life and society. In 2008 the first location was founded as a non-profit stock corporation in Zwiesel, Lower Bavaria. In 2009, Joblinge gAG Munich started as a second pilot location. The gAG Berlin was opened in 2010 and the gAG FrankfurtRheinMain in 2011. The gAG Leipzig and the gAG Rheinland followed in 2012. The gAG Ruhr started in 2013 and in 2014 the gAG Region Stuttgart and the gAG Hanse accepted the first participants in the Joblinge program, followed in 2017 by the gAG Rhein-Neckar. Today Joblinge is active in these regions at more than 25 locations nationwide.

organization

Joblinge is designed as a social franchise: The non-profit umbrella organization Joblinge eV, as a franchisor, distributes the Joblinge concept, the implementation of which is contractually regulated in a cooperation agreement between the location and the umbrella organization. The Joblinge locations, which are responsible for working with the young people on site, are set up as non-profit working groups. The locations undertake to comply with the various processes and quality standards during implementation. Existing gAGs can expand their sphere of activity by opening additional locations in the region. The umbrella organization coordinates the nationwide initiative, controls growth, supports the locations in implementation and continuously develops the concept. As part of the social franchise, the concept is awarded to the locations free of charge.

In 2012, the locations formally joined together in the non-profit, national umbrella organization Joblinge eV. In addition to the Joblinge gAGs, the Joblinge Foundation is also a partner in the umbrella organization. While the Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation withdrew from its operational role as planned after the pilot phase and the establishment of the umbrella organization in 2012, the Boston Consulting Group continues to lead the initiative operationally as part of its social impact engagement. The social enterprise is a member of the Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany .

Joblinge compass for refugees

In order to qualify the young migrants arriving in Germany from 2015 as part of the refugee crisis and integrate them into the labor market as early as possible, the initiative developed a second program called “Joblinge Kompass” in 2016. The offer is aimed specifically at young people between 18 and 25 years of age, the numerically largest group of those arriving, for whom there are few offers. The focus is on participants with low to medium qualifications and a high probability of staying.
