Jobst Edmund von Brabeck was the son of Adrian von Brabeck zu Letmathe and Hemer and his wife Christine Elisabeth von Wachtendonck. He was the nephew of the eponymous Prince-Bishop of Hildesheim, Jobst Edmund von Brabeck (1619-1702). On April 29, 1684 he came into the possession of a cathedral priest in Hildesheim , which the Pope had given him. With the death of the cathedral choirmaster von Schenking, this prebend became free. In Münster he received the prebend given by the Pope a short time later, on May 17, 1684. It cannot be ruled out that the papal commission is due to the influence of his uncle. On July 23, 1685, he submitted his sub-deacon certificate. As the successor to his brother Ludolf Walter , he was cathedral cantor in Hildesheim from 1694 to 1699. In 1699 he became a cathedral choirmaster here. In 1701 he built a splendid curia at Hildesheim Cathedral Courtyard , which has served as an episcopal palace since 1829 (simply rebuilt after being destroyed in the war).
