Jochen Oehler

Jochen Oehler (born November 30, 1942 in Erkner ; † October 12, 2017 ) was a German behavioral and neurobiologist .

Life

Jochen Oehler graduated from high school in Berlin-Blankenfelde in 1961 . He then studied biology at the Humboldt University in Berlin until 1967 . Oehler received his doctorate in 1972 under Günter Tembrock on the bioacoustics of the siskin and received the Johann Gottlieb Fichte Prize, 1st class.

In 1974 Oehler moved to Dresden to the "Carl Gustav Carus" Medical Academy . There he worked in the Automatic Patient Monitoring Department until 1976. He then became a research assistant, later senior assistant and working group leader at the local Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology.

In 1987 he defended his dissertation B at the Humboldt University on the dynamics and pharmacology of neurobiological changes in disorders of the organism-environment relationships with special consideration of social isolation and received the Venia legendi for medical biology at the Medical Academy Dresden in 1990 . In the same year he became director of the Institute for Biology, which was founded for the training of physicians, but which was dissolved in 1994. Oehler then headed the neurobiology working group at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychology and Psychiatry.

In 1995 Oehler was appointed adjunct professor of neurobiology and behavioral science at the medical faculty of the TU Dresden .

In 1990 Oehler was a founding member and later also chairman of the regional association of Saxony and 1997–2007 vice president of the Association of German Biologists (VdBiol).

Oehler last lived in Mellensee , where he was part of the “proMellensee e. V. “committed to nature conservation. Oehler died after a long and serious illness. His partner was Dr. rer. nat. Monika Jähkel, with whom he published several joint publications on the neurobiology of rats at the TU Dresden.
