Act

Jochen Schweitzer has been working as a publishing practitioner and practice researcher with a focus on systemic therapy and counseling since 1980 . His clinical focus is the development of systemic concepts for inpatient adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatics , general psychiatry , community psychiatry and youth welfare, currently for refugee work. These experiences flowed into the “Textbook of Systemic Therapy and Counseling”, which was written with Arist von Schlippe in 1996 and revised in 2012 ( Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht ), currently the best-selling German-language psychotherapy textbook. This was followed in 2006 by Volume II “The Disorder-Specific Knowledge”. The expertise he worked with on the effectiveness of systemic therapy / family therapy contributed to the scientific recognition of systemic therapy as an evidence-based procedure, the recognition of which is currently being examined as a service by the statutory health insurance companies. Jochen Schweitzer is co-founder of the Heidelberg Systemic Research Conferences , the journal Psychotherapie im Dialog at Thieme Verlag , the Helm-Stierlin-Institute and the SYMPA advanced training projects . From 2007 to 2013 he was chairman of the German Society for Systemic Therapy and Family Therapy (DGSF), since then its socio-political spokesman. Since about 2000 he has increasingly turned to organizational consulting and built up a "Medical Organizational Psychology Section" at the Heidelberg University Hospital. In addition to systemic hospital consulting, this deals with coping with stressful transformation processes in the healthcare sector.
