Jock Govan (born January 16, 1923 in Larkhall , Scotland , † February 17, 1999 ) was a Scottish football player . During his career as a player with Hibernian Edinburgh , he won the Scottish Championship three times .

Career

Jock Govan was born in 1923 in Larkhall, about 30 kilometers southeast of Glasgow . He began his football career at his hometown club Larkhall Thistle for which he played until 1942. In 1942 he signed a contract with Hibernian Edinburgh . However, Govan was initially awarded for two years at Hamilton Academical before he should complete his first competitive game for the Hibs . With the Hibs he won the Scottish Championship three times in the following years . In his last season as an active player, he was under contract with the second division Ayr United .

National team

Jock Govan played for the Scottish national team in 1947 and 1948 . He made his debut for the Bravehearts on November 12, 1947 against Wales during the British Home Championship 1947–48 . With the national team he was able to win the British Home Championship the following season . In total, Govan made six caps for Scotland.
