Joco (duo)
Joco is a Hamburg duo made up of the two sisters Josepha Carl (* 1990) and Cosima Carl (* 1986).
history
Josepha and Cosima Carl are siblings, born in Schleswig-Holstein and raised in Neermoor and Veenhusen / Moormerland in East Friesland , Lower Saxony . Through their parents they came into contact with music at an early age and were able to try out many instruments. After studying music at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Enschede ( Netherlands ), they founded the Duo Joco after attempts with an accompanying band and unanimous lead singer and have since performed as a two-part lead duo.
Shortly after its inception, Joco was signed by Sony Music Entertainment . The debut album Horizon was recorded in London's famous Abbey Road Studios . Grammy winner Steve Orchard ( Paul McCartney , U2 , Coldplay , Bjork ) mixed and produced it. The album was released by Sony Music in 2015.
The band name Joco is derived from the first two letters of the artists' first names.
Joco entered the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest on February 25, 2016 with the song Full Moon .
style
Joco write and compose all the songs themselves, using both English and German. On stage, they themselves play the accompanying instruments, which include guitar, piano and drums. Stylistically, they can be classified in indie pop, with indie , pop and singer-songwriter elements mixed together.
