Joe B. Mauldin

Joe Benson Mauldin (born July 8, 1940 in Lubbock , Texas , † February 7, 2015 in Nashville , Tennessee ) was an American musician . He was the bass player for the rock 'n' roll band The Crickets .

Life

Mauldin grew up in Lubbock , Texas in the 1940s and started making music early. In 1956 he founded the band The Crickets with Buddy Holly and Jerry Allison , with whom he was able to achieve many successes, such as That'll Be the Day , Peggy Sue , Oh Boy and Brown Eyed Handsome Man . After Holly's death in 1959, he continued to play with the crickets. He also worked with Brian Wilson and Phil Spector as a producer in Los Angeles .
