Joe Duddell

Joe Duddell (born July 26, 1972 in Norwich ) is a British composer for both classical and alternative music .

Life

Duddell studied music at the University of Salford ( Greater Manchester ) and then with Steve Martland at the Royal Academy of Music ( London ).

After completing his studies, Duddell taught composition for four years at the University of Exeter and held a teaching position at Brunel University in London. Since 2007 Duddell has been a lecturer at the University of Salford in the School of Media, Music and Performance unit .

His works have been published exclusively by Schott Music since 2000 . In 2003 Duddell was Composer in Residence at the Lichfield Festival and in the same year was nominated for the British Composer Awards for his work Not Waving but Drowning . His passion for classical and alternative music culminated in 2009 at the Manchester International Festival : Duddell arranged and composed music for a joint performance by the rock band Elbow with the Hallé Orchestra , which he himself conducted in the sold-out Bridgewater Hall .
