Joseph Pilato
Joseph Francis Anthony Pilato Jr. (March 16, 1949 in Boston , Massachusetts , United States - March 24, 2019 ) was an American actor and voice actor . He was best known for the role of Captain Rhodes in George A. Romero's film Zombie 2 .
Life
Although Pilato was born in the United States, he had an Italian accent since he was born in the Italian part of Boston. He went to a Catholic school. In the early 1980s he studied at the University of Pittsburgh .
Pilato originally wanted to become a lawyer, then decided to go into acting. Before appearing in Zombie 2 , he made a small appearance in Romero's film Zombie . In it he played a looter who robbed a police station. This was Pilato's first film role.
In 1980 he played the leading role in the film Effects . Actually, he just wanted to accompany his girlfriend to the audition. But there they needed someone to read the text with her. He did it. After he read, they rewrote the script and gave him the role.
Other Pilatos films were Neon Signs , Gung Ho , Wes Craven's Wishmaster and The Ghouls - Cannibal Dead .
In most films, Pilato appeared in the credits as Joe Pilato, Joe Pilot, and Josef Pilato.
He also worked as a voice actor. His first speaking role was in the computer game Star Trek: Starfleet Academy . He then took on speaking roles in the anime series Digimon 02 and in Digimon - The Movie .
In Quentin Tarantino's film Pulp Fiction , Pilato made a cameo as Dean Martin in a 1950s eatery.
