Joel Melchor Sánchez Alegría (born June 11, 1989 in Arequipa ) is a Peruvian football player . The midfielder has played for FBC Melgar since 2018 . He was a Peruvian national player .

He played for Total Chalaco from 2007 to 2009 . In 2010 he was with Alianza Lima and from 2011 with Universidad San Martín . He made his national team debut in the 2009 World Cup qualifier in Venezuela. His second appointment was only three years later, at the 2012 World Cup qualifier in Bolivia. At that game, however , his doping test was positive for methylhexanamine and he was banned by FIFA for two years. After the suspension expired, he was back on the pitch at Universidad San Martín in 2015 and made it back to the national team. At the beginning of 2017 he joined league competitor Sporting Cristal , a year later he moved to Querétaro FC in Mexico. There he could not prevail and was only used five times. He returned to Peru in mid-2018 and has played for FBC Melgar ever since . At the end of the season he was relegated with his team from the Primera División, but managed to get promoted again immediately.
