Joseph Carmine Bonsignore (born July 14, 1971 in Bronx , New York ) is an American journalist of Italian descent and former commentator for the WWE . However, he became known under his ring name Joey Styles. Bosnignore is married and has one daughter.

Career

Before joining NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling , Bonsignore worked for Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine . At its debut, the ECW was still part of the National Wrestling Alliance . He was a constant commentator the entire time, from the rebranding to Extreme Championship Wrestling to its bankruptcy . He became known for his exclamation "Oh my God" ( Eng .: Oh my God), which he always used when something dangerous ("extreme") happened.

From the major ECW event Barely Legal , which was first held on April 13, 1997, Bonsignore was the sole commentator. In 2001 the ECW went bankrupt and he was unemployed for a while. After an 18 month break, Bonsignore appeared in the wrestling promotion Xtreme Pro Wrestling . However, he left after only a month and went to Major League Wrestling , where he became a color commentator. Prior to signing his deal with World Wrestling Entertainment , Bonsignore was a co-owner of the wrestling news website 1wrestling.com and independently operated a wrestling telephone hotline.

On June 10, 2005, Bonsignore commented on the ECW reunion event Hardcore Homecoming , hosted by Shane Douglas . Two days later (June 12, 2005) he was the color commentator on the first ECW One Night Stand hosted by the WWE . His counterpart at the time was Mick Foley .

After signing a five-year contract, he was from November 1, 2005, the WWE event Taboo Tuesday , commentator for the WWE main show RAW , replacing Jim Ross on the side of Jerry Lawler and Jonathan Coachman . On May 1, 2006, he left RAW again.

From June 11, 2006, Bonsignore commented again on the ECW , which was now a roster of the WWE, on the side of Tazz . Released by Mike Adamle in April 2008 . Since then, Bonsignore has been responsible for the WWE homepage as “Director of Digital Media Content”.

On August 8, 2016, he was fired from the WWE based on statements made against the WWE leadership.
