Johann Adolph Theodor Ludwig Varnhagen

Johann Adolph Theodor Ludwig Varnhagen , also Adolf Varnhagen (born  July 9, 1753 in Korbach , †  June 28, 1829 there ), was a German Protestant pastor and historian from the family of scholars Varnhagen . He officiated first in Berich , then in Wetterburg and Braunsen (today districts of Bad Arolsen ), from 1793 Niederwildungen , from 1805 in Helsen and finally from 1815 at the Church of St. Kilian in Korbach, where he was also a scholarch of the grammar school . In 1816 he was part-time inspector ( superintendent ) of the Eisenberg church district and in 1822 church and school councilor.

He earned a special reputation for his research work and publications on the history of his home region. For this, the University of Marburg awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1822 . In Korbach the Adolph-Varnhagen-Straße is named after him.
