Johann Andreas Pörtzel, also Poertzel (born August 26, 1736 in Geilsdorf (Weischlitz) , † January 23, 1821 in Blankenhain ), was a German Lutheran pastor and later senior pastor and superintendent in Thuringia .

Life

Johann Andreas Pörtzel was born in Geilsdorf as the son of Johann Gottlob Pörtzel, a miller and carpenter , and his wife Helene Pörtzel née Gentsch. He and his wife Friederike Maria Christiane Winckler (* February 8, 1745 in Dienstedt ; † February 8, 1820 in Blankenhain) had a total of six children, five of them sons. He was sent to Weimar by his parents at a young age to attend the Wilhelm-Ernst-Gymnasium there. After graduating, he studied at the University of Jena . From 1763 to 1784 he was pastor of Rittersdorf , from 1784 to 1791 pastor of Hochdorf and from 1791 (or 1792) to 1821 senior pastor and superintendent as well as consistorial councilor assessor of Blankenhain.
