Johann Andreas Siepius

Johann Andreas Siepius (born August 2, 1701 in Hauteroda , † April 20, 1779 in Dommitzsch ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Siepius was a son of Johann Nicolaus Siepius and Margaretha Catharina from Langenroda. Siepius finished his studies in theology with the acquisition of the master's degree . In 1738, at the late age of 37, he got a job as a pastor substitute in Übigau . In the following year he married the pastor's daughter from Arzberg, Catharina Elisabeth Lindner († 1794); She subsequently gave birth to four sons and four daughters, of which only two daughters were older. In 1743 Siepius received his own pastorate in Sitzenroda . From 1759 he worked as pastor and as Adimicti of the Ephorie Torgau .

Johann Andreas Siepius wrote several publications in Latin and German. After his death, a magnificent epitaph was erected for him in the Dommitzsch church , which contains a comprehensive description of his life.
