Hauteroda is a district of the city and rural community An der Schmücke in the Thuringian Kyffhäuserkreis .

location

Hauteroda is located at the easternmost tip of the outflowing Golden Aue . Finne , Schmücke and Hohe Schrecke are the determining heights of the area and have a decisive influence on the landscape. The district road 517 opens up the peripheral area in terms of traffic.

history

The Teufelsburg, located three kilometers northeast of Hauterode west of the Teufelgrund on the back of the Schrecke, was probably one of the first settlements in the surrounding area. In 1909 stone tools from the Neolithic period were found there. Metallic legacies certainly come from the Middle Ages.

W. Kahl records March 7, 1362 as the first documentary mention.

Hauteroda was on April 25, 1448 for the first time in a loan register of Prince Wilhelm III. (Saxony) mentioned in a document. In 1553 the Counts Hans Georg and Hans Albrecht von Mansfeld pledged the village of Hauteroda, which had belonged to the Office of Heldrungen since 1567 , to Ewaldt von Baumbach the Elder for 2000 thalers for three years. Ä. at Tannenberg Castle . The Protestant theologian Johann Andreas Siepius was born in Hauteroda in 1701 .

On January 1, 2019, the communities of Hauteroda, Bretleben , Gorsleben , Heldrungen , Hemleben and Oldisleben merged to form the new town and country community of An der Schmücke. The community Hauteroda belonged to the administrative community An der Schmücke . Hauteroda and the Lundershausen district belonged to the community of Hauteroda .

Location of the disused shafts

The Walter union potash works and the Irmgard potash works were once the largest employers in the area. The disused potash mine, union Irmgard, is located about 1.6 km northeast of Hauteroda (see adjacent map). Only about 225 m as the crow flies from the Irmgard shaft is the Walter shaft of the union of the same name.
