Johann Bernhard Krey , also Bernhard Krey (* 1771 in Rostock ; † October 6, 1826 there ) was a German Protestant theologian and historian.

Life

Johann Bernhard Krey studied theology at the University of Rostock and the University of Jena and then maintained a private school in his hometown with (Johann) Joachim Eberhard (1772-1856), the later pastor of Penzlin , who became his brother-in-law in 1807. In 1799 he was appointed as an assistant to the monastery preacher, in 1806 a deacon (= 2nd pastor), in 1814 pastor to St. Petri in Rostock. He was also a preacher in 1807 at what was then St. Catherine's Church, 1808–1815 at the penitentiary and since 1814 at what was then the “Lazareth” hospital. In 1806 he received his Master's degree, in 1816 he was awarded D. theol. In 1818, with the seniorate of the spiritual ministry, "the directorate", ie the city superintendent , fell to him, which he renounced. He drowned, in what way is not entirely clear, on October 6, 1826.

Fonts

He had a large number of his own sermons printed and published Ch. M. Th. Stevers sermons with K. Genzken in 1818. He has made great contributions to the Mecklenburg and especially Rostock scholarly history, on which he has published several books.
