Johann Caspar Bauhin

Johann Caspar Bauhin (born March 12, 1606 in Basel ; † July 14, 1685 ibid) was a Swiss doctor and botanist from the Bauhin family, who came from France . He is the son of Caspar Bauhin and grandson of Jean Bauhin and the father of Hieronymus Bauhin .

From 1622 Bauhin was a master in Basel. From 1624 to 1627 he studied medicine in Paris, England, the Netherlands. From 1629 he was professor of anatomy and botany at the University of Basel . In 1638, 1650, 1661, 1664 and 1675 he was rector . It was thanks to him that the microscope was introduced into anatomy classes in Basel around 1650. From 1640 he was the personal physician of Duke Eberhard III. of Württemberg and from 1648 of Margrave Friedrich V of Baden-Durlach . In 1659, King appointed him Louis XIV. For Medicus ordinarius registered .
