Johann Christoph Freyeisen
Johann Christoph Freyeisen , also Johann Christoph Freieisen , (born March 1, 1803 in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen ; † April 24, 1849 Frankfurt am Main ) was a German publicist , music writer and librettist .
The son of a wine grower began studying medicine in Heidelberg . During his studies he became a member of the old Heidelberg fraternity in 1822 . However, he broke off his studies in 1827 to become a music critic in 1830 . With Wilhelm Sauerwein , he published the magazine “Proteus” in Hanau . He also wrote for the magazine "Deutsche Volkshalle" published by Friedrich Funck . In 1832 he published the text “The Republic”, in which he took a radical stand against the princes and the rulers. He was arrested for this a year later, but was released again and fled to Switzerland as a person being persecuted on a wanted list , where he worked as a music teacher in Bern . In 1848 he returned home, but died a year later.
