Johann Christoph Friedrich Heise

Johann Christoph Friedrich Heise (* 1718 in Kerstlingerode ; † October 1804 in Braunschweig ) was a German lawyer and writer. From 1764 to 1769 he was the librarian of the library of the Collegium Carolinum , the predecessor institution of today's Braunschweig University Library .

Life

He studied law in Göttingen and after graduating worked as a lawyer in Celle . In 1746 he went to the Collegium Carolinum Braunschweig as a “public court master”, where he gave geographic and statistical lectures. After Baudi 's death in 1764, he was given responsibility for the library of the Collegium Carolinum, which he held until he left in 1769. Heise then entered the service of the ducal ministerial administration as a secret secretary.

Heise was known as a poet of Latin odes. From 1753 to 1777 he published numerous articles on geographic, ethnographic and cultural-historical topics in the Hanoverian magazine , in the Braunschweigische advertisements and in the Hanoverian advertisements .
