Johann Droste zu Hülshoff (* 1640 in Roxel ; † September 2, 1679 in Fritzlar ) was canon in Fritzlar .

Life

Origin and family

Johann Droste zu Hülshoff came from the Westphalian noble family Droste zu Hülshoff , one of the most important families in Westphalia. He was the son of Heinrich von Droste-Hülshoff (1597–1666) and his wife Clara Anna von Neheim zu Niederwerries († 1670). His brother Bernhard was a universal heir. Five sisters were canons: Clara in Borstel, Catharina in Hörde, Benedicta in Wilmarsen, Maria was abbess in Hohenholte , where her sister Richmod was also canon. Agnes married Diederich von Eickel. His brothers Diedrich and Alexander were canons in Fritzlar, Everwien Rittmeister. Heidenreich and Heinrich were in military servicewho sparked the disputes over the paternal inheritance and tried to kill his brother Bernhard.

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on June 10, 1656, Johann was prepared for a spiritual life. After visiting the Paulinum Münster , he studied at the University of Cologne in 1657 . On June 2, 1657 he was mentioned in a document as Canon of Fritzlar, where he became a subdeacon on September 18, 1660 with the lower ordinations . He found his final resting place in the Fritzlar collegiate church.
