Johann Ernst Bach (organist)
Johann Ernst Bach , also Johannes Ernestus Bach (baptized August 8 . Jul / 18th August 1683 greg. In Arnstadt , † 21st March 1739 ) was a German organist of the Bach family .
Life
Johann Ernst Bach is the third child of Johann Christoph Bach , the twin brother of Johann Ambrosius Bach . After his father's death, he grew up with relatives in Ohrdruf , where he and his cousin Johann Sebastian Bach attended the Lyceum until 1701 .
After finishing school, he worked as a musician for a few years, first in Hamburg , then in Frankfurt am Main . In 1705 he returned to Arnstadt, where he temporarily played the organ of the New Church on behalf of Johann Sebastian Bach . After he moved to Mühlhausen in 1707 , Johann Ernst applied for the successor, which was awarded to him in 1708. As a salary, he received less than half the salary of his predecessor. In 1728 he also became the organist of the Upper Church and the Church of Our Lady .
An application for the office of organist in Gehren in 1727 was unsuccessful.
Nothing is known of his own works. But it is possible that he was the previous owner of the Altbach Archives .
