Johann Franz von Crone

Johann Franz von Crone (* 1645 in Westphalia; † December 6, 1718 ) was major general in Brandenburg and commander of the Anhalt-Zerbst regiment .

In 1690 he became major in Brandenburg and head of two companies he had recruited himself. During the Palatinate War of Succession , he fought against the French. During that time he became a lieutenant colonel on January 6, 1691 and on July 22, 1692 he joined the Anhalt-Zerbst battalion. Then the regiment fought from 1702 in the War of Spanish Succession against the French, taking part in the sieges of Kaiserswerth , Tournay, Dounai and the battles of Höchstädt and Oudenaarde . In the battle of Malplaquet he led a brigade from the regiments Lottum, Alt-Dohna, Jung-Dohna and Dönhoff, and was wounded in the process. During this war he became a colonel on February 7, 1702, commander of the Anhalt-Zerbst regiment on April 18, 1706 and a brigadier on June 19, 1706. As early as September 19, 1709 he was appointed major general as an award for Malplaquet. After the war, he bought the Schwarzenstein house near Wesel in 1713 , which was sold again to Major General Johann Siegmund von Heyden in 1715 . Then he took part in the Pomeranian campaign in 1715/1716 , but received his resignation on May 20, 1716. He died on December 6, 1718.
