Life

Origin and family

Johann Franz Freiherr von Kerckerinck zu Stapel came from the Westphalian hereditary family von Kerckerinck , whose relatives played an important role in the Münster hereditary dispute . Thanks to the tireless efforts of his grandfather Johann Ludwig von Kerckerinck zu Stapel (1671–1750) it was possible for him and his brother Karl Anton to obtain a cathedral canonical. Johann's father was the former canon Franz Hermann von Kerckerinck zu Stapel (1713–1778), his mother Maria Sophia von Rollingen.

Act

After a biennium in France, Johann Franz had created the prerequisites for a spiritual profession. In 1756, when the canon of Nesselrode renounced it , he came into the possession of a cathedral priest in Osnabrück . The revolt fell on March 20, 1757. In 1760, by renouncing the canon August Philipp von Limburg-Stirum, he obtained a cathedral priest in Münster . Here he was sworn up on November 25, 1760. In 1775 renounced Johann Franz favor of his brother Karl Anton on his prebends in Osnabrueck and Muenster. On October 2, 1779 he married Maria Antonia von Schilling. The marriage resulted in two daughters, including Maria Theresa (* 1786; † 1870), whom Ernst Constantin Freiherr von Droste zu Hülshoff (* 1769; † 1841) married. He was the uncle of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff . 22 children resulted from this marriage. Since Johann's marriage did not produce any male descendants, part of the inheritance went to his brother Karl Anton, with whose death the Kerckerincks died out in the male line.
