Johann Friedel (brewery owner)

Johann Friedel (* May 7, 1856 in Oberkonnersreuth ; † May 5, 1902 in Zschortau ) was a brewery owner and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Friedel first attended the elementary school in Oberkonnersreuth and then from 1868 to 1871 the trade school in Bayreuth . He learned beer brewing in his parents 'business and served as a one-year volunteer in the 2nd Bavarian Cuirassier Regiment from 1873 to 1874. He worked in various breweries in Munich and then managed his parents' brewery, which he did in 1884 on his own account took over. He was also a member of the Bayreuth District Council from 1886 and Deputy District Administrator from 1888 to 1893. He was also the District Fire Brigade representative from 1883 to 1893 and Deputy Mayor of Oberkonnersreuth from 1886.

From 1893 he was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies and from March 6, 1900 of the German Reichstag for the constituency Upper Franconia 2 ( Bayreuth , Wunsiedel , Berneck ) and the National Liberal Party . He died on May 5, 1902 on the way to a session of the Reichstag, when his train derailed near Zschortau on the way to Berlin . See also: Zschortau railway accident .
