The Berneck District Office was an administrative district in the Upper Franconia administrative district in Bavaria from 1862 to 1929 . The Bavarian district offices were comparable to a district in terms of their function and size as lower state administrative authorities .
history
The Berneck District Office was formed as part of the Bavarian administrative reform of 1862 . The seat of the district office was in Berneck , which is now called Bad Berneck in the Fichtelgebirge and belongs to the Bayreuth district. On October 1, 1929, the district office was dissolved:
- The communities Bärnreuth, Berneck , Bischofsgrün , Brandholz, Escherlich , Gefrees , Goldkronach , Goldmühl , Leisau, Lützenreuth , Metzlersreuth , Nemmersdorf, Neudorf, Rimlas and Wülfersreuth came to the district office of Bayreuth . Gefrees, Lützenreuth and Metzlersreuth moved from these communities to the Münchberg district office on July 1, 1931 .
- The communities of Gössenreuth, Himmelkron , Lanzendorf , Marktschorgast , Wasserknoden and Ziegenburg came to the district office of Kulmbach .
- The municipalities of Falls, Kornbach, Streitau , Walpenreuth, Witzleshofen and Zettlitz came to the Münchberg district office .

The municipality of Wundenbach was incorporated into the city of Gefrees on April 1, 1926; on April 1, 1927 also the community of Grünstein.
