Johann Friedrich Iken

Johann Friedrich Iken (born October 15, 1837 in Bremen , † December 21, 1902 in Bremen) was a German theologian and church historian .

biography

Iken was the son of the pastor at St. Pauli Congregation, JA Iken. He attended the Alte Gymnasium Bremen . From 1857 to 1861 he studied Protestant theology in Heidelberg , Berlin and Göttingen . In 1861/62 he was an institute teacher in Oberstein . In 1863 he became assistant preacher in Bremen- Arsten . From 1865 to 1873 he held the position of pastor at the St. Fabian Church in Ringstedt . In 1873 he became a preacher at the Bremen poorhouse in the Stephaniviertel and a catechist at the Bremen hospital .

Iken became known through a wealth of publications, including on the history of the church in Bremen , the Inner Mission (1881) and the Bremen church order of 1534 (1891).
