Johann Friedrich Stapfer

Johann Friedrich Stapfer (born January 1708 in Brugg ; † May 1775 in Diessbach near Thun) was a Swiss Reformed theologian .

Life

The son of the Münsingen pastor Johannes Stapfer († 1731) studied in Bern and Marburg with Christian Wolff and finally traveled to Holland. His brother was the Bernese clergyman and university professor Johann Stapfer .

From 1738–1740 he was field preacher in the Waldstätten , then for ten years private tutor in the von Wattenwyl family in Diessbach near Thun and from 1750 until his death pastor.
