Thomas K. Kuhn
Thomas Konrad Kuhn (* 1963 in Cologne ) is a German theologian and professor of church history .
Life
Thomas K. Kuhn grew up in Bergisch Gladbach and studied theology and philosophy at the universities of Bonn , Marburg , Wuppertal and Basel from 1982 to 1989 . 1989–1993 he was a research assistant at the chair for modern church history and dogma history ( Ulrich Gäbler ) at the University of Basel . In 1995 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on Alois Emanuel Biedermann , for which he received the Philipp-Matthäus-Hahn-Preis in 1996 . 1995–2000 he worked as a senior assistant and lecturer in the history of theology at the theological faculty of the University of Basel. In 2001 he completed his habilitation and became assistant professor for church and theological history at the University of Basel. After various substitutions and teaching assignments at German and Swiss universities, he became professor of ethics at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum in the social work department in 2009 . Since 2010 he has been Professor of Church History at the University of Greifswald .
Thomas K. Kuhn's research focuses on the history of diaconia , Pietism and the Enlightenment , religion and society in modern times, the history of churches and theology in modern times and the most recent times, as well as the history of churches and theology in Switzerland. He also wrote numerous articles for the Biographisch-Bibliographische Kirchenlexikon (BBKL) and the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland .
