Johann Friedrich Wagner (born July 11, 1801 (baptism date) in Stuttgart , † after 1850 in America ) was a German painter , draftsman and lithographer .

Life

Johann Friedrich Wagner was born in Stuttgart in 1801. In 1834 he settled in Bern as a landscape painter . After marrying the bourgeois daughter Johanna Ziegler, he opened a lithographic studio there and published single sheets and lithographic series. In 1850 he emigrated to North America . The further fate is unknown. Of particular architectural historical interest are the incomplete views of Swiss castles and palaces , which from 1840 appeared loose in deliveries with ten sheets in a blue box with accompanying texts. By July 1842, 120 views had appeared.
