Johann Fritz (legal scholar)
Johann Adam Fritz (born January 24, 1799 in Lindenfels , Odenwald; † June 1, 1878 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German legal scholar and professor of Roman law .
Life
Fritz studied in Gießen from 1816 , where he received his doctorate in 1821 and completed his habilitation in 1822. During his studies in 1816 he became a member of the Ehrenspiegelburschenschaft . In 1825 he became an associate professor in Freiburg im Breisgau and a full professor in 1827. He held this office until 1874.
In the 49 years of his time in Freiburg, Fritz read about Roman legal history, institutions of Roman law and pandects ; in addition, he offered exegesis and internships on Roman law.
From a scientific point of view, Fritz emerged primarily with revisions to textbooks on Roman law (Mackeldey's textbook on Roman law; J. v. Wening-Ingenheim, textbook on common civil law) and also wrote a number of articles.
