Johann Georg Birnstiel

Johann Georg Birnstiel (born March 28, 1858 in Wattwil , † October 31, 1927 in Romanshorn ) was a Swiss Protestant Reformed pastor and writer .

Life

Johann Georg Birnstiel came from Wattwil in Toggenburg , attended the canton school in St. Gallen and studied Protestant theology at the University of Basel .

In 1881 he became pastor in Schönengrund , in 1888 he moved to Arbon on Lake Constance. At the age of 39, he moved to Basel to set up a new parish there. After a stroke in 1913 he had to give up the pastor's office and from then on devoted himself to writing. In 1920 he moved to Romanshorn.

In addition to autobiographical texts, Birnstiel wrote stories with a historical background. In Wattwil , the Birnstielstrasse is named after him.
