Johann Georg Herrmann

Johann Georg Herrmann , called Hans Herrmann, (born August 4, 1865 in Nuremberg , † November 25, 1932 in Gustavsburg ) was a German civil engineer (steel construction, bridge construction) at the MAN plant in Gustavsburg .

His father was a master locksmith and engine driver and Herrmann attended the industrial school in Nuremberg and studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic (later the Technical University) in Munich, where he was assistant at the chair for bridge construction. In 1889 he joined Maschinenbau AG in Nuremberg (later MAN ), became chief engineer in 1901 and head of the bridge construction department in 1907. In 1923 he became a member of the MAN board and took over the management of the MAN plant in Gustavsburg .

As the successor to Heinrich Gottfried Gerber , Anton von Rieppel and Max Carstanjen (1856–1934), he was head of the Gustavsburg School of Steel Bridge Construction. The bridge constructions at MAN in which he was involved include:

Full-walled deck bridges were introduced at MAN in Gustavsburg under his direction.

He also dealt with steel construction in hydraulic engineering and with tanks and worked closely with universities and test facilities.
