Johann Georg Paul Fischer

Johann Georg Paul Fischer (born September 16, 1786 in Hanover ; died September 12, 1875 in London ) was a German painter. His first marriage was with Jane Fischer and his second marriage with Marie Fischer geb. Latvian married.

Life

Fischer was the youngest child of an engraver . After the early death of his father, at the age of fifteen, he was apprenticed to the court painter Johann Heinrich Ramberg , where he was trained in painting , portraiture and stage design , with which he was able to support his family. In 1810 he moved to England to avoid mobilization for the war against Napoleon.

Here he became a court painter, made miniature portraits of Queen Charlotte and other members of the royal family a. a. Princess Victoria . He also got orders for military and costume historical illustrations, drew watercolor landscapes and published some prints and engravings . From 1817 to 1852 he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and the Suffolk Street Exhibitions. Fischer worked as a painter until he was 81. He was a commissioned painter , but well known and with his own style. Some of his studies in the British Museum are lively and intelligent, especially the portraits for William Hunt .
