Johann Georg Stengg
Johann Georg Stengg (born December 23, 1689 ; buried March 19, 1753 in Graz ) was a Styrian architect and baroque master builder .
biography
Johann Georg Stengg was the son of Andreas Stengg , the Graz court architect. He developed into the main representative of late baroque architecture in Styria. Stengg made two trips to Italy (1707 and 1715) and was trained by the Italian architect Francesco Borromini . In 1741 he succeeded his father Andreas Stengg as court architect. One of his most important works is the Mariatrost pilgrimage church in Graz , which he planned with his father.
