Johann Georg Zwahr

Johann Georg Zwahr (Lower Sorbian Hanzo Juro Swora , born October 6, 1785 in Hänchen , Niederlausitz ; † July 19, 1844 in Stradow , Niederlausitz) was a Lower Sorbian pastor and author of the first Lower Sorbian-German dictionary.

Life

Johann Georg Zwahr was the son of a teacher. After high school in Cottbus , he studied Protestant theology in Halle . From 1812 he was pastor in Stradow near Spremberg until his death in 1844.

In 1847 his son Johann Karl Friedrich Zwahr published the Lower Lusatian -Wendish-German concise dictionary by JG Zwahr , Spremberg in 1847.
