Johann Grillenberger

Johann Grillenberger (born March 3, 1939 in Sankt Margarethen in Burgenland ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After eight years of elementary school, Johann Grillenberger completed an apprenticeship as a vehicle mechatronics technician in 1954 . He then worked in this profession until 1972. In 1972 he found work as a locksmith before he became an employee of the Burgenland Electricity Corporation (BEWAG) in Eisenstadt in 1979 .

In 1977 Grillenberger moved into the municipal council of Großhöflein for the Social Democrats . Only one year later, in 1978, he was elected Vice Mayor. In 1987 he finally ran successfully for the office of mayor . Grillenberger was the mayor for 15 years until 2002.

In October 1996 he was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna . Johann Grillenberger was a member of the second Austrian parliamentary chamber until December 2000.

Grillenberger was regional president of the Burgenland Pensioners' Association for 17 years , and in 2018 he was succeeded by Helmut Bieler .
