Johann Höfinger

Johann Höfinger (born July 18, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP).

Life

Johann Höfinger grew up in Ollern in Lower Austria , which is part of the Sieghartskirchen municipality in the Tulln district . He began his political career in 1990 as a councilor in Sieghartskirchen . At the same time he was also involved in the Young People's Party and the farmers' union . In 2000 he became Vice Mayor of the market town of Sieghartskirchen, and in 2008 he took over the office of Mayor from Josef Ungler. Höfinger was sworn in for the first time as a member of the National Council in the Austrian Parliament on October 30, 2006 . Before that he was a member of the Federal Council from April 2003 to October 2006 . After the National Council election in 2013 he was area spokesman for environmental affairs. In September 2014, he resigned from his functions in the Sieghartskirchen municipal council in order to devote himself more to parliamentary work and environmental issues.

Johann Höfinger than extinguishing master member of the volunteer fire department Ollern and is the recipient of the Merit of the Lower Austrian Fire Services Association 3rd class in bronze and the Medal of Honor for action in the field of Fire and Rescue Services for 25 years.

From 2010 he was chairman of the association Rettet das Kind Niederösterreich , in May 2019 Christoph Kaufmann succeeded him in this function.
