Johann Hartmann Degner
Johann Hartmann Degner (also Johan Hartman Degner , born July 19, 1687 in Schweinfurt , † November 6, 1756 in Nijmegen ) was a German physician and city physician and mayor of Nijmegen.
Life
Degner initially studied law in Halle at the request of his father , but preferred to concentrate on the natural sciences and switched to medicine after the death of his father. In 1717 he received his doctorate from the University of Utrecht under Cornelis van Eck . He then worked as a doctor in Elberfeld for a year . Around 1719 he moved to Nijmegen, where he worked as a doctor and city physician until the end of his life . In 1751 Degner became senator and mayor of the city of Nijmegen.
One of his better known writings is his work on the dysentery epidemic in 1736 in the Nijmegen area.
On July 13, 1724, he was given the surname Argonauta IV. Under the registration number. 370 elected a member of the Leopoldina .
