Johann Hermann Clasing (born July 4, 1779 in Hamburg ; † February 8, 1829 there ) was a German pianist and composer .

Life

On old prints his first name is mostly abbreviated with the initials IH or JH. He is certainly identical to Johann Heinrich Clasing, who lived in the same place at the same time. In the New Nekrolog der Deutschen for 1829, his name is changed to Johann Herrmann Clasing . The name is also Hermann on a contemporary lithograph, which is not dated, but which was apparently made after Clasing's death or was provided with a caption . The first name Heinrich , which can be found in reference works from the middle of the 19th century, could accordingly have been derived from the initials IH.

Clasing worked as a pianist, composer and piano teacher in Hamburg. He was a student of Anton Reicha and Paul Wineberger . In 1816, together with Louise Reichardt , he founded a music association that became very important for maintaining the works of George Frideric Handel .
His work is stylistically close to Johann Nepomuk Hummel .
