Johann Heinrich Marschhausen

Johann Heinrich Marschhausen (* 1764 in Wernigerode ; † December 23, 1813 ) was a German educator and historian .

Marschhausen came from Wernigerode, where he had attended the lyceum. He studied from 1777 to 1783 in Goettingen and Halle (Saale) , graduated as Dr. phil. and became the first teacher and inspector at the Royal Pedagogy in Halle. Marschhausen gained national fame as the author of a textbook on German history for the upper classes of learned schools, which first appeared in print in 1799. He died at the age of 49.
