Johann Hermann Kuetemeyer (born June 24, 1769 in Schwerin ; † July 31, 1854 there ) was a German lawyer, court and feudal councilor from Mecklenburg-Schwerin and founder of a foundation named after him.

Life

Johann Hermann Kuetemeyer was a son of the Schwerin lawyer and senator of the same name, Johann Hermann Kuetemeyer (1733-1810).

In 1788, at the age of 19, Kuetemeyer became city secretary, around 1792 senator and from 1803 to 1820 he was one of the two city mayors of the shelf town of Schwerin . After passing the bar exam in 1804, he practiced as a lawyer. In 1807, Duke Friedrich Franz I appointed him a member of the State Credit Commission. In 1814 he received the title of Hofrat . From 1819 he worked as a lawyer for the newly established Grand Ducal Mortgage Department. In 1825 he was promoted to First Mortgage Keeper and Lehnrat. He was head of the loan office in Schwerin.

Kuetemeyer retired in 1840. With his will drawn up in 1849, he established the Kuetemeyer's Foundation for the granting of small loans. Kuetemeyer had already founded an association against long borrowing in March 1848 , whose members undertook to pay their bills either immediately or at least on February 2nd, May 2nd, August 2nd and November 2nd of each year. By the end of July, 226 Schwerin residents had already entered. The foundation's assets were invested early in the outskirts of Schwerin. By investing the foundation's assets in real estate , the foundation, unlike others, survived the period of inflation in the 1920s unscathed.

He was married twice, first to Christina Friederica, b. Schenck (1773–1838), then with Louise Wilhelmine, b. Steinicke (1806-1863).
